Rent a Lake House
Last week, I rented my condo in Syracuse, NY to a wonderful couple moving their daughter into her dorm room for her freshmen year at SU. My first time hosting using AirBnb. It worked out so well!
I took it as an opportunity to rent a Lake House on a nearby lake - Skaneateles Lake. The weather turned out to be magnificent all week! I commuted back and forth most days - a 45 minute drive into Syracuse, to get my workouts in, and keep my routine on point. I looked forward to every morning and evening though - that jump in the lake!
I explored the town trying various restaurants. Gilda's and Elderberry Pond turned out to be my favorites. The Lake House boasted a large outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the lake, that I frequented most nights. A giant fire pit allowed for one night of indulgence - delicious s'mores! Local friends and my parents circulated in and out.
One night a friendly raccoon joined me on the massive wrap around deck. I was eating a Best Bar, the wrapper sitting on my lap. I felt two paws on my leg, looked down, and was quite startled to see said raccoon trying to indulge in the wrapper. I ran inside and locked the doors, haha!
Anyways, get away when time permits - even if it's in your backyard. It was a peaceful week filled with friends, family, fun and laughter.
